Changes at the MSRCs

With the announcement of Lockheed/HPTi win at the four major MSRCs, there is a flurry of anticipation as the new contractors will take the helm on June 1, 2008.

Quantum Recruitment (QRI) will be a subcontractor to Lockheed, using 27 years of experience in the HPC market to help maintain the high level of experienced, scientific computing the DoD requires.

As rumors abound, the primary focus today, is to maintain the quality of performance through a strong retention policy. The quality of the staff at each of the MSRCs is critical to performance. There is no reason to believe that the quality of employment under Lockheed will be diminished in the transition.

This is an exciting time for the HPCMP, with the delivery of 5 new high performance computing systems (four from Cray, Inc.) and the on-going software development program headed by Dr. Douglass Post (CREATE), this change of facility management is yet another indicator of positive change.

All these changes should indicate to the scientists, programmers and systems support personnel a strong message of providing the necessary tools for quality performance at all of the MSRC sites.
